Brokerage Event – 22/06/2023, Brussels

We are glad to invite you to the Brokerage Event!

After almost three years of work, the AgroFossilFree project, a member of ou Alliance has nearly come to an end and has achieved the envisioned targets. The main objective of AgroFossilFree was to pave the way towards the de-fossilisation of EU agriculture by decreasing the dependency on fossil energy, while maintaining the yield and quality of the final product and reducing the environmental impact. A framework has been created to help bridge the gap between the available novel solutions (Fossil-Energy-Free Technologies and Strategies) – whether commercial or applicable research results – and everyday European farming practices.

The published AgEnergy Platform with more than 1500 entries on innovative techniques, ongoing research and material that in many cases is already available for farmers to use in their fields to produce green energy or save energy. Greater collaboration has been achieved in this regard by encouraging the effective exchange of novel ideas and information between research, industry, extension services and the farming community. However, new policies based on the EU’s “Farm to Fork” strategy and Green Deal must also consider all the progress already achieved.

The Brokerage Event is an opportunity to present the results that AgroFossilFree has obtained over the last 33 months.

New Decission Support Tool from AgroFossilFree

The AgroFossilFree project has created the Decision Support Tool, based on Artificial Intelligence, to provide an initial ranking of the technology categories best suited for each user that visits the tool. The tool mimics the consultation process of a series of experts as if they were evaluating and ranking the input data provided by the end user in order to propose the most interesting interventions for each farm. The Decision Support Tool allows to improve the visitor’s experience by guiding them to the most suitable FEFTS for their day-to-day farming use.

The EU CAP Network Seminar “Smart circular farming to address high energy and fertiliser prices”

Two AREA ZERO projects (AgroFossilFree and HyPErFarm) contributed sharing the results for defossilisation in agriculture during the Seminar Smart circular farming to address high energy and fertiliser prices organised in Porto, Portugal on 6th-7th of December 2022. The seminar was organised by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development (DG AGRI) and the EU CAP Network Support Facility for Innovation & Knowledge exchange | EIP-AGRI

Konstantinos Vaiopoulos (AgroFossilFree) gave a presentation about the project’s findings during interviews performed with experts and collection of the best practices towards defossilised agriculture.

Our event in EUSEW Extended Programme

On 22nd of September 2022, three of our members – AgroFossilFree, RES4LIVE and TheGreeFa projects organise an online event being a part of the EU Sustainable Energy Week 2022 (EUSEW2022) Extended Programme.

The session “Together towards energy-efficient and de-fossilised agriculture” will be organised will be focused on the current challenges of the European agricultural sector, and innovative approaches proposed by the EU-funded projects.

You will be also introduced to the solutions proposed by the three projects providing answers on how to overcome the challenges – innovative ways to increase the use of agricultural biomass for heating, technologies supporting the decoupling of fossil fuels through the integration of renewable energy sources in agriculture and livestock farming, heat and water recovery systems for greenhouses, and scalable approaches to the introduction of new efficient technologies for controlled environment agriculture. At the end, a discussion between speakers will take place about problems and future of European agriculture, and necessary steps to reach the EU’s climate goals.

Use the link to REGISTER to the EUSEW 2022 and our session. You will find there presentation of the speakers.
